The Model

Introduced in 2007, the Aston Martin DBS marked a decisive shift in the marque’s modern GT lineage, replacing the Vanquish as the flagship model and ushering in a more focused interpretation of Aston Martin’s grand touring formula. Although commonly referred to as a 6.0-litre, the DBS is powered by Aston Martin’s 5.9-litre V12, a unit renowned for its character and durability. Producing 510 bhp, it combined performance with long distance refinement and quickly became one of the defining cars of the Gaydon era.

Crucially, the DBS was more than a styling exercise. Extensive use of carbon fibre, paired with carbon ceramic brakes as standard, delivered weight saving and a clear uplift in intent over the DB9 on which it was based. Offered with a six-speed manual gearbox, the DBS has since become recognised as one of the last truly analogue V12 GT cars, naturally aspirated, manual, and refreshingly free from modern drivetrain complexity.
