The Model
The 992.2 Carrera GTS marks a pivotal moment in the history of the Porsche 911, introducing the T-Hybrid powertrain to the model line for the first time. Replacing the 992.1’s 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six, the GTS is now powered by a larger displacement 3.6-litre unit paired with a single electrically enhanced turbocharger and a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor integrated within the housing of the new eight-speed PDK transmission. Combined system output is 534 bhp and 450 lb ft of torque, with 0 to 62 mph achieved in 3.0 seconds and a top speed of 194 mph.
The electric turbocharger eliminates lag almost entirely, delivering full boost from as low as 1,950 rpm, while the electric motor provides an additional 54 bhp and 110 lb ft through the transmission. Importantly, it is not a plug-in hybrid and cannot drive on electric power alone; the system is designed purely for performance, operating on a 400 volt electrical architecture fed by a compact 1.9 kWh battery.
